Product Overview

Bauxite flotation is a proven mineral separation process mainly for bauxite desilication. Reverse flotation is the dominant technical route. After crushing, grinding, desliming and flotation, siliceous gangue minerals such as kaolinite and quartz are removed. The process increases the Al/Si ratio of bauxite concentrate. The upgraded bauxite is used as raw material for Bayer process alumina refineries. This solution serves bauxite projects in Guinea, Brazil, Indonesia and other major bauxite-rich regions.

Process Principle

Bauxite ore contains aluminum minerals associated with siliceous gangue. After fine grinding, aluminum minerals and silica minerals are fully liberated. By adding flotation reagents, silicate impurities are selectively captured by air bubbles and removed as froth tailings, while bauxite remains in the pulp. This reverse flotation method effectively raises the Al/Si ratio and reduces caustic soda consumption in downstream alumina production.
